Too Easy, a romantic thriller, was published by Simon & Schuster in 1994 and enjoyed a rather successful career. For example, it was translated into German, French and Dutch (a rare accomplishment), and published by a total of six publishers.

Kirkus said: “A fast-paced erotic thriller...A witty and entertaining look at our dark sides.”

Kinky Friedman said: “TOO EASY is so well-written it’s frightening. The unwed mother of all page-turners.”

The novel was favorably reviewed in the Sunday Times of London, which predicted a quick transition into a film noir movie version.

In short, Too Easy is a fast, intense read--the ultimate train and plane novel. Oddly, however, it was not published as a paperback in the US. Why has the public been deprived?

The book was occasionally risqué, but that could be fixed by snipping out a few sentences. A worse sin, apparently, was that the story--a romantic triangle--dealt with a woman trying to steal another woman’s husband. Oh, the horror. Not that she was stealing but that she was actually trying to get married. To a man. The feminist mindset said this was so retro. I suspect that kind of thinking peaked around 1994, but it was enough to stymie the logical progression of this nifty novel into paperback.

The criticism that offended me the most was that Too Easy was like Fatal Attraction. I hadn’t seen this movie, and finally did so with great trepidation. Wow! The two stories are almost exactly opposite. I suspect the PC police just wanted a way out. The two stories are similar only if somebody is simple enough to think that all triangle love stories are the same.

If you enter Bruce Deitrick Price in google, you’ll find this book listed in 20+ places. So it is available, but not in paperback. Please petition your favorite editor: “We want Too Easy!”
